Holy Cowboys! I’m Sinking, I’m in a Cyclone & I Can’t Get Out!

Flotation Devices continue to be in use!!!!!! Wally is slightly under .500 and seems to be sinking!

This week I will point my compass to Ames, Iowa and talk a little about the Iowa State Cyclones (5-4) and the Oklahoma State Cowboys (10-0), one of only 3 undefeated teams left. If OSU wins this game, they will clinch their 2nd 11 win season in OSU history, and earn their first share of the conference crown since 1976. QB Brandon Weedon leads a very talented offense, which is ranked 2nd in scoring @ 51.7 pts. per game, and is ranked 2nd nationally with over 3,635 passing yards, with 31 touchdown passes.

The Cyclones are coming off two consecutive Big 12 wins, with redshirt QB Jarrell Barrett playing very well. He has thrown for over 319 yards, and has run for 217 yards in the last two games and is becoming a duel offensive threat. His two running backs, James White and Duran “Duck” Hollis are also running very well for the team, I think this game will come down to the strength of the Cowboys offense, against the defense of the Cyclones. The Cowboys will remain undefeated this week.

This week is a very big week for the UCONN Huskies, the Huskies (4-5 and 2-2 in Big East play), play host to the Louisville Cardinals (5-5 and 3-2 in Big East play). This promises to be their biggest game of season; it will define the direction of team with only 3 games left and maybe they can secure a bowl bid. The Cardinals have a very good freshman QB in Terry Bridgewater, who can be a duel threat to run, but is really a pocket QB. If the Huskies can contain their QB, I think this will decide the game. The UNCONN defense has been doing a very good job against the run and the bye week has given them time to heal and get refreshed to focus on the big picture, a bowl bid, UCONN by 3.

It appears that Pretty Girl has run off to get herself some jewelry to wear. I wonder if she’ll choose Iowa State or Oklahoma State?

Did you hear the story of the 3 brothers from Iowa…

Three brothers from Iowa, one brother now lives in Pennsylvania, traveled to Connecticut to attend an Iowa State game. They were all decked out in their Iowa State attire. Each year they choose an away game to attend and this year it was the UCONN vs. Iowa State game at Rentschler Field. Coincidentally, these are the newest licenses that we have just been approved for here at T & T Designs.
So while tailgating on this beautiful fall like Friday night all of us in our UCONN garb, I noticed these Iowa State fans walking by. I stopped them to say Hi and explained how we had just acquired the Iowa State licensing to make jewelry for their school, and of course how we just got the UCONN license as well and here we were with them both facing off in a game. We welcomed them to Connecticut and offered them some chocolate chip cookies, and that is when they shared their story. What a great tradition for the three of them to meet up at away games.
Although our rivals at the game we wanted them to experience Connecticut hospitality so in addition to the cookies my husband and our friend, Chris, offered them a welcome toast with a shot! Hopefully they will remember the Huskie fans that welcomed them to the state. Okay it stinks that in the end they beat us, but there is always next year!
