Holy Cowboys! I’m Sinking, I’m in a Cyclone & I Can’t Get Out!

Flotation Devices continue to be in use!!!!!! Wally is slightly under .500 and seems to be sinking!

This week I will point my compass to Ames, Iowa and talk a little about the Iowa State Cyclones (5-4) and the Oklahoma State Cowboys (10-0), one of only 3 undefeated teams left. If OSU wins this game, they will clinch their 2nd 11 win season in OSU history, and earn their first share of the conference crown since 1976. QB Brandon Weedon leads a very talented offense, which is ranked 2nd in scoring @ 51.7 pts. per game, and is ranked 2nd nationally with over 3,635 passing yards, with 31 touchdown passes.

The Cyclones are coming off two consecutive Big 12 wins, with redshirt QB Jarrell Barrett playing very well. He has thrown for over 319 yards, and has run for 217 yards in the last two games and is becoming a duel offensive threat. His two running backs, James White and Duran “Duck” Hollis are also running very well for the team, I think this game will come down to the strength of the Cowboys offense, against the defense of the Cyclones. The Cowboys will remain undefeated this week.

This week is a very big week for the UCONN Huskies, the Huskies (4-5 and 2-2 in Big East play), play host to the Louisville Cardinals (5-5 and 3-2 in Big East play). This promises to be their biggest game of season; it will define the direction of team with only 3 games left and maybe they can secure a bowl bid. The Cardinals have a very good freshman QB in Terry Bridgewater, who can be a duel threat to run, but is really a pocket QB. If the Huskies can contain their QB, I think this will decide the game. The UNCONN defense has been doing a very good job against the run and the bye week has given them time to heal and get refreshed to focus on the big picture, a bowl bid, UCONN by 3.

It appears that Pretty Girl has run off to get herself some jewelry to wear. I wonder if she’ll choose Iowa State or Oklahoma State?

NO Crying, No Weeping!!! Time to Right the Ship and WIN!!!

Wally’s Collegiate Corner will soon become Wally’s Weeping Corner if I do not right my sinking ship, My picks have been weak and non productive, but beginning with this weeks pick, we will change losses to victories??? This week we will look at a key Big 12 matchup that will pit the #7 Oklahoma State Cowboys against the #8 Texas A&M Aggies, both of these teams come into this game undefeated and both are ranked in the Top#10 for the first time ever!!! For the Cowboys you will have Brandon Weedon, the high powered quarterback who has thrown for an average of 387.4 yards per game, but tends to throw a few interceptions, and his counterpart for the Aggies Randy Tannehill, who has averaged over 300.1 yards per game with a 72.3% completion ratio, and has never been sacked behind his front line.

This will be a true couch potato game for all to see, so sit down with your favorite brew, or visit some friends, because this is one of the best games on this Saturday, a game I sure will not miss. My prediction for what little it is worth right about now will be the Aggies by 8.

As a true UConn Husky fan, I must take a few minutes to talk about the re-structuring of the Big East, as you all know Syracuse and Pittsburgh are leaving the Big East and this will be a big blow for the conference. I truly feel in the long run the Big East will come out a better league. UConn has a very strong program in all sports and I know that the ACC or the Big 12 will want a strong program, a program that fills the stands with faithful fans. UConn will take its time to weigh all its options and will find the best fit for their program, a program that prospers and will continue to prosper for many years to come. Ok my prediction will be for UConn to win decisively!!! UConn 35 Buffalo 7
