T&T Compacts off to Cracker Barrel
July 16, 2013 § 1 Comment
Phew! This was a big job to do, but it’s finally done and out the door!
We just made about 13,000 pieces ALL BY HAND HERE IN CONNECTICUT. These are our gorgeous compact mirrors for our college line of gifts and accessories. They are available exclusively through Cracker Barrel for 35 colleges! We added each logo insert (also made here in the US) to a high quality, stainless steel plated compact with two mirrors, along with their appropriate holographic logos of authenticity and sku numbers. The compacts are 2 1/2″ in diameter, and they look so great! Now they’re on the truck and off to your local Cracker Barrel store for this year’s tailgating season!
It pretty much took a village to do all this work in the USA instead of overseas, but one of our goals this year is to do more work locally. In addition to our regular staff we brought in our sister, friends, spouses, our sons and daughters and even their dates! Even Jen’s new baby, Sawyer, came in to look on. She’s only 8 weeks old and she’s so cute!
So be sure to check these out at Cracker Barrel this fall!

T & T loves Harry’s Place, a family tradition
March 27, 2013 § Leave a comment
If you are from Connecticut especially the area off of Route 2 you probably have visited or at least heard of Harry’s Place. this is another of T & T Designs favorite places. Located in Colchester at 104 Broadway (this runs right into Main St), it has some of the best burgers you will ever taste. Many of us locals have an emotional attachment to Harry’s because most of us grew up eating at Harry’s. It was where you went to kick off the warm weather finely arriving after our long winters and it was a rite of passage as a teenager when you stopped at Harry’s sunburned and sandy on the way home from the beach with your friends for the first time. Harry’s is where your parent’s brought you for a summer treat and where you then bring your children and then your grandchildren. Waiting in line to order and get your burger, you are sure to run into someone you know or make a new friend while the smell of the burgers travels through the air.
Ice cream, milk shakes, hot dogs with chili, fries and many more treats are available at Harry’s but of course it is the burger they are famous for. Harry’s is open for the season, and so I promise this means that Spring is here and the warm weather is coming! So you will definitely find the T & T Designs staff at Harry’s Place, we will be there when we are not busy designing our new angel jewelry and college jewelry for the summer collections. Eating a burger on a warm spring night can be so inspiring – hmmm think tailgating, summer themed jewelry, guardian angel jewelry, college jewelry…..
Good Karma at T & T, what goes around comes around…
March 22, 2013 § Leave a comment
We all have heard the expression “Good Karma”, so what is it and how do we get it. I know that I sure could use some Good Karma. Don’t forget though it works both ways, there is “Bad Karma” too!
Simplified, karma is a process of cause and effect. Each of our deeds and actions has consequences and as a result of these your fate or destiny is determined by your actions good or bad. Your karma is being created all the time with every thought & action. So basically what goes around comes around!
Here are 20 Ways to get Good Karma by the Dalai Lama:
- Take into account that great love and great achievements involve great risk.
- When you lose, don’t lose the lesson.
- Follow the three R’s:
– Respect for self,
– Respect for others and
– Responsibility for all your actions. - Remember that not getting what you want is sometimes a wonderful stroke of luck.
- Learn the rules so you know how to break them properly.
- Don’t let a little dispute injure a great relationship.
- When you realize you’ve made a mistake, take immediate steps to correct it.
- Spend some time alone every day.
- Open your arms to change, but don’t let go of your values.
- Remember that silence is sometimes the best answer.
- Live a good, honorable life. Then when you get older and
think back, you’ll be able to enjoy it a second time. - A loving atmosphere in your home is the foundation for your life.
- In disagreements with loved ones, deal only with the current situation. Don’t bring up the past.
- Share your knowledge. It is a way to achieve immortality.
- Be gentle with the earth.
- Once a year, go someplace you’ve never been before.
- Remember that the best relationship is one in which your love for each other exceeds your need for each other.
- Judge your success by what you had to give up in order to get it.
- If you want others to be happy, practice compassion.
- If you want to be happy, practice compassion.
We do believe in Karma at T & T Designs so giving back to our community near and far is an important part of our business. White, White and more White – Blizzard of 2013
February 11, 2013 § Leave a comment
Is it just me or is everyone else sick of the color white! At least everyone that got 2, 3 and 4 feet of snow dumped on them in 24 hours from the 2013 Blizzard called winter storm Nemo, and in Connecticut it is called Blizzard Charlotte. I shoveled for 3 days and have discovered sore muscles I never even knew existed. Usually when I think of white I am thinking of summer, when I am looking forward to wearing white again. I know that wearing white isn’t just for warm weather anymore but really it is not the same wearing white in the winter. Wearing a white tank top, white summer dress, white jeans or a pretty white sandal! BUT, after shoveling so much “white stuff” – I don’t want to see white again for a while! I can’t wait for warm weather but instead of wearing white I think I will be wearing aqua blue, coral or a pretty shade of pink; at least until I can get the image of all that white stuff out of my mind.
So think warm weather, palm trees, the beach, starfish and mermaids – picture yourself sipping a tropical drink on the beach! It is a short escape but it helps. Put on one of T & T Designs beach or tropical themed “I Wish…” wishing bracelets as a reminder that the “white stuff” will melt and warmer days are ahead! Send one to a friend to warm up their day, or one to Mom for Mother’s Day. Use T & T Designs gift wrap option for $3.00 which comes with a gift card and colorful decorated gift envelope. It is a great way to brighten someone special’s day.
Did you ever wonder how Valentine’s Day got started?
January 21, 2013 § Leave a comment
Originally known as Saint Valentine’s Day which began as a celebration of one or more early Christian saints named Valentinus. Still celebrated has an official feast day in many of the churches the holiday that we celebrate is believed to have stemmed from the story of Saint Valentine who was imprisoned for ministering to Christians who were prosecuted by the Romans, and also for performing weddings for soldiers. These soldiers were forbidden to marry. During St. Valentine’s imprisonment the legend goes that he healed the daughter of his jailer Asterius, and before his execution as a farewell to her he wrote, “From your Valentine”.
During the High Middle Ages was when it was first associated with romantic love in the circle of Geoffrey Chaucer, during which time the tradition of “courtly love” flourished. Geoffrey Chaucer was one of the great English poets also known as the Father of English literature. During the 15th century it evolved into a time when lovers expressed their love for each other through gifts of handwritten cards, flowers and confections. Not unlike the same gifts that are still presented today to one’s Valentine. Although jewelry is now a favorite gift to receive on Valentine’s Day in addition to the cards, flowers and candy!
You can find our reproduction of antique valentines from our extensive ephemera collection on our T & T Designs LLC website. Send your Valentine a card done in the tradition of the beautiful old cards; ours comes with a tiny Guardian Angel pin to watch over your loved one. Click here: http://tandtdesignsllc.com/guardian-angel-card-heart-design/ Keeping in line with today’s traditions you can also include a piece of our Heart jewelry, also by T & T Designs, which is a perfect way to say “I Love you”!

Guardian Angel Pins are the perfect little item that you can wear anywhere. Although they can be worn any season, Valentine’s is one of the times when we think of our loved ones and what we wish for them – strength, guidance, hope, faith and support. Our little angel pin that has meant so much to so many over the years and is small enough to be inconspicuous. Now is time to order for that special someone.
