Our pick for the game to watch tonight! Top ranked Michigan Wolverines go up against the Indiana Hoosiers. The Wolverines may be down key player with Jordan Morgan’s ankle injury – will this mean that 3rd ranked Hoosiers can steal the game? Michigan has been relentless this season, can they hold on?
With Valentine’s Day close upon us, why not get your love a gift of jewelry from the team she loves? Check out these great necklaces from T&T, they have both University of Michigan and Indiana Indiana in stock!

Wally's Collegiate Corner: In the next three weeks I will try to break down a few random College Bowl games, giving my insight to what I think and who I feel will be the underdog going into the game and who I think will be victorious. There are over 30 Bowl games leading up to the BCS Championship game on January 7, 2012. This coming weekend we have our first two bowl games, and I will pick the Gildan New Mexico Bowl, which will have the (7-5) Nevada Wolf pack playing against .the (7-5) Arizona Wildcats. This will be a very interesting game because it actually pits the TOP 2 rushing leaders in the nation in Wildcat RB Ka'Deem Carey, and Wolf pack RB Stefphon Jefferson, I expect this to be a fairly high scoring game because both defenses are not that strong and both offenses are very good. I will mention that the Arizona Wildcat defense has played very well against the Top#25 teams they played against, the Wildcats have QB Matt Scott who is a duel threat because he can run the ball very effectively, and they also have the #7 offense in the nation using the spread attack. I will go with Arizona coming out victorious and winning this game, but will say this will be a very offense orientated game for both teams, final score 38 - 24. This will be 24 days of Collegiate Bowl games; of course it won't be consecutive days but pretty close, so if you like college football, we could see some great games. On the local front, at the present time our UConn Huskies are in all lull due to final exams, but on December 17th, we will see our men's, and woman's teams get back into action, the Men's team will be playing Maryland Eastern-Shore, and our Woman's team will be playing on December 19th against Oakland, both will be played at the XL Center in Hartford Conn. I personally look forward the Huskies getting back to action, but will watch some of the Bowl games too. I love the collegiate sports, especially Football and Basketball.

As the Collegiate football season winds down, I will write about different upcoming bowl games, and begin to follow the Collegiate Basketball season, and of course I will continue to discuss our UConn Huskies.
This past weekend I did watch our UConn Huskies lose to the Bearcats by a score of 34 -17, but I feel they were competitive in the 1st half and played well defensively and offensively. All season I have been saying they need to compete for a full game, which they really have not done all year, maybe next year!!!
It has been a great NCAA football season this year, and we have seen some new faces that are in this years BCS Bowl picture. All the bowl games have been decided and now we watch how the games unfold, and how your team plays in their game. All the bowl games will lead to the final BCS Championship game, to be played at the Sun Life Stadium on January 7, 2013 pitting the #2 Alabama Crimson Tide (12-1) against the # 1 Notre Dame Fighting Irish (12-0). This will be a defensive battle because we are looking at the Fighting Irish defense, avg.10.33 points per game, ranked #1 in the nation against the Crimson Tide defense avg. 10.69 points per game and are ranked #2 nationally. WOW!!! What a matchup.
Another game of particular interest to me will be the Orange Bowl being played on January 1. 2013, this game has the #15 ranked Northern Illinois Huskies (12-1, 8-0 MAC) playing against the #12 Florida State Seminoles (11-2, 7-1 ACC). The Huskies are the 1st MAC school to reach a BCS bowl game and it will be the first time that a MAC school will be playing an ACC team, many people feel like the Huskies don’t deserve to be in a major bowl because they really have not played a great deal of strong competition
I look forward to watching this game for two reasons, my 1st is to see a how the MAC competes against the ACC, and to see if the Huskies belong with the elite teams, I think that the bowl games belong to teams that belong and their record indicate they belong, GO HUSKIES!!
Just a quick note on the UConn Huskies collegiate basketball season as it gets into full swing, last evening I saw a very competitive team fall to #25 North Carolina 69 – 65. This was a very good game for a team that is barred from playing in any tournaments in 2013 due to sanctions for academic performance. Kudos to our 1 year coach Kevin Ollie, he is making them work hard, and deserves an extended contract. I think we will see them play very well this year.
Our Woman Huskies will be excellent this year, the upcoming game with Baylor will be the game to watch, as well as they are playing I do not see to many teams that will be able to play with them.
This Holiday season we’ve been busy with our new retail website, selling licensed jewelry for 39 colleges & universities. We have such a great variety of styles, we have something to please any college sports fan on your list – we even have tokens that a guy like me can carry in his pocket for good luck for his team. These make great stocking stuffers!

Wally’s Collegiate Corner
As we go into this weekend’s College games, we can see that many of our AP Top 25 teams are playing opponents that are not ranked or have a bye week, but there are 3 games that pit two teams from the Top 25 playing each other.
I have decided to pick the game which has #23 Texas Tech Red Raiders (7-3, 4-3 conference) against the #24 Oklahoma State Cowboys (6-3, 4-2 conference) as my game to watch! Coach Tommy Tuberville brings in his Red Raiders into Boone Pickens Stadium led by QB Seth Doege, who is 11th in the country in passing touchdowns with 34, and has one of the best passing offenses in the Big 12. His offense is highlighted by the pass catching ability of his #1 WR in Eric Ward, together they can be very effective. Their defense boasts a very good pass rushing front line and SS Cody Davis who is having a stellar season.
On the other side Coach Mike Gundy brings in his Cowboys with a difficult decision, because he has 3 very good QB’s that can all lead the team, with QB Wes Lunt out with a concussion last week; Jr. QB Clint Chelf led the team to victory with 292 yds passing and 4 TD tosses. I think this will be a high scoring game, and it will be determined by the ability of the Texas Tech defense stopping Okla. State RB Joseph Randle who is #17 in nation with total running yards.
On the local scene, this was a great week for UConn Athletics, as they had some great victories. The 1st was that the Uconn Football team won a very important game this past week. It is their 1st Big East victory, and it also keeps their hope for a bowl bid alive. They have a week off, and I know they will be focusing on the #20 nationally ranked Louisville Cardinals who they will be playing next Saturday. More to come on this in next week’s blog!
The 2nd great victory was the Husky Men’s Basketball team going to Germany to face the nationally ranked (#14) Michigan State Spartans and coming away with a very big upset. I watched a very resilient team behind 1st year coach Kevin Ollie play a very strong offensive effort led by Shabazz & Boatright. In the 2nd half the Spartans made their strongest effort to take the lead closing the gap to 3 points, but this team held together and came out with the victory, winning 66-62, which vaulted the to #23 in the 1st week of the APTop 25, at this writing of my blog, they presently stand at 2-0 after beating the Vermont Catamounts this past Tuesday evening 87-63.
I also do not to forget the Woman Huskies, who are off and running this year, with the freshman trio of Stewart, Tuck, and Jefferson they will have the best fast break team since 2010, this will be a very good year for the Woman Huskies!!!

It is with heavy heart that I begin my blog writing about our UConn Husky Football Team. I watched last week’s game and it is very clear that a team that has all the tools to make a true presence in the Big East is not playing with true focus, and as far as I am concerned they lack the conviction, and the discipline for winning. All of the losses are due to lack of focus, and inconsistent play of the offense. I will say that QB Chad Whitmer had his best game passing against Rutgers, passing for 293 yards, and 2 touchdowns, and he is getting better and better, this team has a defense that is ranked 6th in the nation, that is correct 6th in the nation!!!!! This is the shame, because our offense is ranked 107th out of 120 teams, what a waste with those defense stats!!!!
This week the 3-4 (0-2 Big East) UConn Huskies play the 2-4 (1-1) Syracuse Orangemen at the Carrier Dome, the Orangemen bring a very prolific passer in QB Ryan Narsik who averages over 300+ yards a game and is an excellent drop back passer. He has two good RB in Jerome Smith, and Prince-Tyson Gulley, and if the UConn defense plays up to their ability, Syracuse will have to build some kind of running game to compete. On the other hand, we will need to see Lyle McCombs back in the lineup to help open up the passing game for Chad. I understand that the wrist of Lyle is better, and was being fitted with a cast that will allow him to hold the ball and run with it.
Syracuse comes into this game having lost last year at the Ret, 28-21 to the UConn Huskies, so they will be up to this game, my outlook on this game is that it will come down which team has the least turnovers, as all of their losses have been self-inflicted, and execution, execution, execution
On the national scene this week I am writing about the 7-0 (3-0) Ohio State Buckeyes who will be playing the 3-3 (0-2) Purdue Boilermakers, the Buckeyes are off to their best start since 2007. The Buckeyes have a very strong QB in Braxton Miller, and two running backs in Carlos Hyde and Zach Boren who average over 100+ yds. in the last 4 games, this team is clicking on all cylinders, and could make a run at the BCS title this year. The Boilermakers and Coach Danny Hope bring in a team that has lost back to back games, but have All-American DT Kawann Short who is an excellent pass rusher and a good QB in Caleb Terbush. I really think that OhioState will take this game without too much difficulty; they are playing with a lot of determination and focus.
Note from the rest of the staff at T & T Designs: While Wally is working on his blog the rest of us at TandT are busy with trying to keep up with all of the orders for our Officially Licensed College Jewelry. Not only do we sell UConn jewelry but we have 38 other schools that we are licensed to sell. With football season in full swing our collegiate jewelry is flying out the door!

Well, last week was a total mess for Wally’s Corner, as I went 0-2 the Nebraska Cornhuskers lost to the UCLA Trojans and my Huskies lost to NC State , so I am saddened by the whole weekend.
This week I will be watching the # 3 LSU Tigers led by QB Zach Mettenberger and his very talented RB’s. Kerry Hilliard, Spenser Ware, and Alfred Blue lead the Tigers against an 0-2 Idaho Vandals team led by a list of 3 QB’s, with Dominique Blackman my top choice. He is very good out of the pocket, as long as he can get some protection against a very strong LSU defense. I am sorry to say this will be a LSU victory, but a good game for the Vandals to see and learn what it will take to play such a well oiled machine in LSU.
Below you will see my breakdown of how my UConn Huskies were defeated in a game they should have won. My comment explains it all!!!!!!
Offensive Front Line Protection = Offensive Scoring
This is basic stuff boys, we are not playing midget football here, this is college level football. The NC State game was a very upsetting game to watch from an offensive standpoint As a loyal fan of UConn it was upsetting to watch them sputter on offense, they finally have a QB in Chandler, but they need to give him protection. I agree that he rushed some passes that resulted in interceptions. C’mon guys, if you want to win games and get some more respect in the NCAA you need to play like men, not boys. Our defense led the way, but let’s be real, how many 1st downs were lost because the line could not push forward and create room for the running game. The defense played very well, held a strong team like NC State in check, and only allowed 10 total points, this is a credit to very good coaches and a desire to win, at least from the defense, but they can’t do it alone, this is called a team effort from both sides.
This week some of us here at T&T Designs are going down to Maryland to see The Huskies play The Terps. This is a very big game for UConn again this week, not because they are playing their old coaches’ team, but because they are a good quality team. I hope Coach P makes some changes to the offense line so that our QB can show us what he has and I hope our defense continues to play as well as they have been playing. If the Huskies play as a complete cohesive unit they will win!!!! On a side note I am still waiting to see my dark house TE get in the game, C’mon Coach P. you know how good he is, maybe he can spark the offense and open up the passing game for our QB. The girls will be wearing their Uconn Jewelry to the game, but they’ll bring a few pieces of our Maryland line as well, so if you see them at the game, maybe they’ll give you a piece!
I am sorry for being so critical this week, but this offense needs to play their hearts out to regain their hold on me, because I feel this is and could be a very good year and I hate to see it go down the tubes.

You might wonder what this has to do with T & T, but “Ugly Sweaters” are a tradition here in our office. It is a practice that actually works and so we are happy to share the theory behind our collection of ugly sweaters. Here at T & T one of the staff likes the office on the cold side, while the rest of us freeze in in the summer with the AC and in the winter with the heat turned down. So wearing a sweater here is sometimes a matter of survival. This is where the sweaters come in. See if you had a nice sweater you would go home with it, and then might forget to bring one in the next day. Someone was always cold here and someone was always forgetting to bring in a sweater. So… hence the collection of “Ugly Sweaters”, you might wear it in the office if you were cold enough and we all do BUT you would NEVER wear it out of the office because it was ugly. Therefore the sweaters stay here at T&T where there is always one available when you need it. They are fuzzy, stretched out and never the right size. One time our collection actually included a really nice black sweater, of course that was the one everyone wanted to wear but one day it went home with an employee and has never returned. This practice does work, you might want to try and put together your own collection of “Ugly” office sweaters, everyone has one or two at home they want to get rid of and are willing to donate to the collection. We look at it has helping the environment too, since we are recycling the sweaters that no one wants. We challenge other offices out there to go green, recycle, stay warm and gather their own “Ugly Sweater” collection! Hmmm maybe we should have an Ugly Sweater Office Party!

Wally’s Collegiate Corner:
Are you Kidding Me!!!!! We have a QB………..UConn vs. UMass………what a game!
I am sorry, but I must start my blog and write about the great beginning in UConn football since QB Orlowsky led the Huskies. This past Thursday evening I was fortunate enough to go to the first UConn game with friends and did some tailgating with excellent food and cocktails. We all watched a great game (over 35,800 Husky fans) played against an up and coming UMass team that will be in Division 1 next season. Well, the Huskies won the game 37-0 (by the way I predicted the score to be 37-10 UConn, not bad!!!!) and it was a great game.
I really think we finally have a QB in Chandler who can really open up the air attack, which will take pressure off the run game and allow a more fluid attack. This past Thursday he was 15-25, 219 yards, which is a 60% completion ratio and made some very good throws, he did have 2 interceptions, but as he gets better in the pocket and more confident that will change. I think that the UConn Huskies have a diamond in the rough with their TE Sean McQuillan. This kid has all the tools to become a real force on the playing field, it will not matter if he is in the Wildcat formation or coming out of backfield for a critical catch for a 1st down, just watch this player as the season progresses!
This week they will be put to the test against a strong NC State team that will be coming to the Ret, NCSU has 3 tailbacks that are very good, and an excellent WR in Quintin Peyton, so the defense will have to play very well to contain their offense. Their QB Mike Glennon will make mistakes if he is pressured, and that will be my key to the game, force their QB to make mistakes, and watch QB Chandler Whitner make the nesses say adjustments to lead our team to victory, my prediction UConn 21 NCState 20
OK, now let me talk about my pick of the week coming up this Saturday, #16 Nebraska Cornhuskers 1-0 playing against the UCLA Bruins 1-0. The Bruins are coached by 1st year coach Jim Mora, and come into game after beating Rice 49- 24, they have a true freshmen QB in Brett Hundley who went 21-28 , 202 yards, and a great RB in Jonathan Franklin who ran for 3 TD’s. I think they will be in for a tough game against the Cornhuskers who also beat up on Southern Miss 49-20. Coach Bo Pelini will bring in his QB Taylor Martinez, who had a great game completing 26-34, 365 yards and 5 TD catches by his very good receivers. The running game will continue to tick even with the loss of Rex Bunkhead due to injury, as they have 3 back up running backs that are also very, very good. I do expect the Cornhuskers to win; my prediction will be Nebraska 38, UCLA 24.
